Josef Fares, Hazelight Studios' director, revealed insights into the upcoming Split Fiction in a recent interview. Reiterating his stance, Fares confirmed Hazelight’s dedication to steering clear of live-service models and microtransactions. The studio has no plans to go public or be acquired by a larger company:
"We’re staying independent. No microtransactions. Our goal is to create exceptional gaming experiences."
In a discussion with MinnMax, Fares shared that Split Fiction’s main storyline offers 12-14 hours of gameplay, comparable to It Takes Two. With optional missions and extra content, players can enjoy up to 16-17 hours of gameplay.
While Hazelight is known for co-op games, Fares hinted at potential single-player projects in the future. He disclosed that Split Fiction’s budget is twice that of It Takes Two, yet the studio will not pursue post-launch DLC, ensuring all content is available at launch. Split Fiction releases worldwide on March 6th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
