League of Legends is responding to fan feedback by bringing back Hextech Chests. Dive into this article to discover what's in store with the upcoming update and what the future holds for LoL.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Changes
Hextech Chests Make a Comeback
League of Legends (LoL) is set to reinstate Hextech Chests following a wave of fan feedback. Riot Games shared detailed information about the upcoming updates on their website on February 27, 2025, accompanied by a developer update video on their YouTube channel.
In the update, LoL acknowledged that recent changes had not resonated well with the community, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."
The decision to bring back Hextech Chests was driven by fan demand, as LoL noted, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."
Starting with patch 25.05, players can earn up to 10 Hextech Chests and keys per act. Eight of these chests will be available through the free pass, while the other two can be obtained via the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and More Fan-Driven Changes
Riot Games also announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, stating that the team needs "more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay extends to the entire Exalted skin line, meaning fans won't see a new skin in every Act as initially planned.
In response to further fan feedback, LoL is making adjustments to the game's economy, stating they will "be replacing one of the non Prestige ones with 25 Mythic Essence, given we’ve seen clear feedback that there’s both a lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and that we’ve been doing more champions for each seasonal theme than makes sense."
Addressing concerns about champion accessibility, LoL will reduce the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting from patch 25.05.
Additionally, Riot Games is reversing their previous decision to run Clash less frequently. LoL is bringing back the monthly Clash schedule, with March’s event featuring ARURF and a regular Summoner's Rift Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return
Responding to fan requests, LoL is also bringing back the Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop. Your Shop is scheduled to return in patch 25.06, followed by the Emporium in patch 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their commitment to continuous improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."
With these updates, Riot Games demonstrates their dedication to listening to their community and making League of Legends a more enjoyable experience for all players. League of Legends is available to play for free on PC. For the latest updates and information, visit our League of Legends page.
