Says It "Could Be Interesting"
Following the remarkable success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Sandfall Interactive is considering a port to the Switch 2. In a recent interview with French YouTuber mistermv on May 2, Guillaume Broche, the director of Expedition 33, discussed the studio's future plans after their triumphant launch.
Broche remarked that the game's achievements have "changed everything" for the team, prompting them to reassess their next steps. He noted, "Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything."
When queried about the possibility of bringing the game to the Switch 2, Broche indicated that the studio is currently evaluating multiple opportunities. He stated, "So clearly, it's too early to say, but we're kind of in a situation where... let's say there are a lot of opportunities showing up - way too many at once - and we're figuring out what we'll go for and what we won't. But yeah, it's definitely something that could be interesting."
Given the anticipated launch of the Switch 2, it's only fitting that the year's top-rated game might also find its way onto Nintendo's latest handheld console. Fans will have to stay tuned to see if they can experience the Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG on this new platform.
No Official Merchandise…Yet!
Amidst the influx of requests and opportunities, Sandfall Interactive has received calls for official merchandise, particularly an Esquie plush. The studio has confirmed that no official merchandise currently exists and has cautioned fans about counterfeit items circulating online. In a tweet on May 14, they highlighted the issue, stating, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed."
They also warned that many of these unauthorized products feature AI-generated artwork, which Sandfall strongly advises against purchasing due to potential scams. However, the studio is actively working on creating official Esquie plushies.
In their tweet, they added, "But here’s the wheee to balance out the whooo: we are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!"
The fanbase's enthusiasm for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 continues to grow, and with Sandfall's recent announcement, they can look forward to official merchandise.
