Confirmed: New Project Already in Planning
The tremendous reception of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has transformed French developer Sandfall Interactive's trajectory, creating exciting new possibilities including forthcoming projects. In a May 27 interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Sandfall COO François Meurisse shared insights about the studio's future beyond their Belle Époque-inspired RPG.
"We're absolutely making another video game," Meurisse confirmed. While details remain undefined at this stage, the team maintains enthusiastic anticipation. "We're eager to explore the creative concepts we've already begun developing," he added.
Meurisse highlighted the team's professional evolution during their recent project: "Many team members began as juniors. Through collaboration, we've developed significantly stronger capabilities." He continued, "Beginning our next venture from this more experienced position presents exciting challenges and higher expectations - particularly regarding Guillaume's exceptional creative vision."
The studio hasn't revealed whether their next project will continue Expedition 33's narrative or establish new intellectual property. This follows recent speculation about potential DLC expansions after Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen hinted at additional story content.
Remarkable Sales Achievement: 3.3 Million Units
Simultaneously, Expedition 33 reaches a distinctive milestone reflecting its commercial success. On May 27, Sandfall Interactive announced via Twitter/X that the game achieved 3.3 million sales within precisely 33 days.
"Truthfully. As of today. The numbers speak for themselves," their statement read. "This joins the extraordinary experiences made possible by your incredible support. Our deepest gratitude to everyone." This numerical coincidence underscores the game's exceptional market performance.
