**Players & Cards**
Tong-Its is exclusively for three players, using a standard 52-card Anglo-American deck (jokers excluded). The card rankings are: Ace (1 point), 2-10 (face value), Jack, Queen, King (10 points each). Aces are considered low in this game, so no A-K-Q runs are allowed.
**Objective**
The aim is to form sets and runs through drawing and discarding, minimizing the points of unmatched cards in your hand. A run is three or more consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., ♥4, ♥5, ♥6), while a set is three or four cards of the same rank (e.g., ♥7, ♣7, ♦7). Remember, a card can only be part of one combination at a time.
**The Deal**
The dealer is chosen randomly at the start and rotates to the winner of each hand. Cards are dealt counterclockwise, starting with the dealer who gets 13 cards, while the others receive 12. The remaining cards form the stock, placed face down.
**The Play**
Each turn involves:
Draw - Start by taking a card from the stock or the top of the discard pile, adding it to your hand. You can only take from the discard pile if you can immediately form a meld with it, which you must then expose.
Exposing Melds - Optionally, expose valid melds (sets or runs) from your hand. You must expose at least one meld to open your hand. If you can form a set of four without drawing from the discard pile, you can lay it down face down to keep it secret and earn bonus points.
Laying Off (Sapaw) - Optionally, add cards to existing melds on the table, whether yours or another player's. This can be done even if your hand isn't open and can prevent opponents from drawing from the discard pile on their next turn.
Discard - End your turn by discarding one card from your hand onto the discard pile, face up.
