Pesten With Cards is a classic Dutch card game that translates to "Bullying With Cards."
Pesten With Cards is a classic Dutch card game that literally means "Bullying With Cards." It is similar to games played in other countries, such as Mau-Mau, Crazy Eights, Shedding, Puque, Чешский Дурак, Фараон, Крокодил, Tschau Sepp, or Uno. The goal is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. The winner must announce "Last Card" before playing their final card. Forgetting to say "Last Card" results in a penalty of drawing two cards.
The game can be played with multiple decks, including jokers. Each player is dealt seven cards, and the remainder form a face-down stock pile. The top card of the stock is flipped face-up to start the discard pile. Players then take turns clockwise. If the initial face-up card is a special "Pest-card," its effect is applied as if the dealer played it.
On your turn, you must play a card by adding it to the discard pile. You can only play a card that matches the number or suit of the top discard, except for Jokers and Jacks, which can be played on any card. If you cannot play, you must draw a card from the stock. If the drawn card is playable, you may choose to play it immediately or keep it.
-Last card
When you have only one card left after playing, you must declare "Last Card" by clicking the corresponding button above your hand. This alerts other players. Forgetting to declare before playing your final card to win results in a penalty: you draw two cards, and your winning card is not played. Incorrectly declaring "Last Card" also incurs a two-card penalty. You can press the "Last Card" button at any time, even when it's not your turn, to ensure you declare in time.
You win the round by successfully playing your last card. However, your final card cannot be a special card (see the special card rules below).
-Special Cards
Whenever a card is played, it is checked to see if it is a special card. The card's number or type triggers a specific action. Since there are many Dutch variations for these actions, you can configure them in the game options to match your preferred rules. The available actions are:
- Joker
The next player must draw five cards. If that player also holds a Joker, they can play it, forcing the following player to draw ten cards. Each Joker played adds five cards to the total draw. The player who draws cards cannot play them immediately, and play passes to the next player.
- Two
The next player must draw two cards. If that player has a Two, they can play it, making the subsequent player draw four cards. Each Two played adds two cards to the draw. If enabled in the options, a Joker can be played on a Two, adding five cards instead. A Two cannot be played on a Joker. The player who draws cards cannot play them, and play passes on.
- Seven
You must immediately play another card on top of the Seven. Don't forget to declare "Last Card" if this move leaves you with one card. If you cannot play another card, you must draw from the stock.
- Eight
The next player misses a turn, and the following player goes next. In a two-player game, this allows you to play another card (similar to a Seven).
- Ten
Every player must pass one card from their hand to the player on their left. Click on the card you want to......
