Relic has unveiled Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition, a contemporary remake of its two-decade-old RTS masterpiece.

Scheduled for PC release via Steam and GOG later this year, this Definitive Edition delivers the authentic Dawn of War experience while optimizing it for modern systems. IGN secured an exclusive interview with design director Philippe Boulle covering all upgrade details - essential reading for any Dawn of War enthusiast.

Fans have eagerly awaited the franchise's return, and this remastered original - widely regarded as one of Warhammer 40,000's finest adaptations - could mark the first step toward future installments. Many hope Relic will leverage this launch to potentially develop a brand-new sequel.

The comprehensive package includes every campaign, expansion, playable faction (nine total), and battle map (over 200) from the original series. Visual enhancements include native 4K resolution support, quadruple-resolution textures, and advanced lighting systems that preserve the classic aesthetic while modernizing environmental details, weapon effects, and unit appearances.

Gameplay improvements feature an expanded camera zoom for better battlefield awareness, redesigned UI scaling for widescreen displays, and conversion to a 64-bit architecture to support both new mods and legacy community creations spanning two decades.
