Highlights of Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update
The update introduces the "Khorovod" event, featuring special tasks and rewards, and a unique game mode. Players must light and protect a Christmas tree in six different locations.
A significant addition is the "Prestige" system, similar to Call of Duty's prestige mechanics. Level 55 players can reset their character, retaining some gear and earning rewards unaffected by wipes. These rewards include achievements, cosmetics, and additional tasks. Currently, two prestige levels are available, with eight more promised.
Further noteworthy changes include:
- Engine Upgrade: Transition to the Unity 2022 engine.
- Frostbite Status Effect: A new cold-related status effect impacting vision and stamina, counteracted by alcohol, warmth, and shelter.
- Winter Theming: Winter-themed enhancements and map adjustments.
- Customs Map Rework: Revamped textures, new objects, and points of interest.
- New Weapons: Seven new weapons, including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher.
- Hidden Exfiltration Points: Secret escape routes requiring specific items.
- New Questline: A new quest chain involving a BTR Driver.
- Hideout Customization: Expanded hideout customization options.
- Continuous Healing: Implementation of continuous healing mechanics.
- Recoil Balancing: Recoil adjustments and visual improvements.
- Balance Changes and Fixes: Extensive balance adjustments and bug fixes.
The update also includes the usual Escape from Tarkov wipe, ensuring players have plenty to explore once the servers are live.
