"Split Fiction: Co-op Adventure Nears 4 Million Sales"

by Zoe May 25,2025

Hazelight's beloved co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling nearly four million copies. This success was highlighted by publisher EA in their latest financial results, describing the game's launch as "hugely successful" and crediting it as a key factor in their strong finish to the 2025 fiscal year.

The developer, Hazelight, expressed their excitement on social media with a jubilant post: "4 MILLION SOLD!!!!". They further shared their gratitude, saying, "So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it’s amazing... Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made..."

Play**Split Fiction** immerses players in the diverse worlds crafted by two fiction writers, offering a groundbreaking co-op experience where two players can enjoy the game even if only one owns it. Launched in March, the game quickly became another hit for Hazelight and designer Josef Fares, surpassing two million copies sold within its first week. It's also slated to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 as Hazelight begins development on their next project.

Additionally, a movie adaptation of Split Fiction is in development, with Story Kitchen, known for their work on the Sonic films, currently assembling the writing team, director, and cast, which will feature Sydney Sweeney.

In our IGN Split Fiction review, we described the game as "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," noting that it "is a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they’re introduced. This keeps it fabulously fresh for its full, 14-hour duration."
