Best Redwing Decks in Marvel Snap

Marvel Snap's roster of animal companions has been rather limited, with only a handful like Cosmo, Groose, Zabu, and Hit Monkey. However, the Brave New World season introduces a new feathered friend: Redwing, Falcon's loyal pet.

Redwing's Mechanics in Marvel Snap

Redwing is a 3-cost, 4-power card with a unique ability: The first time it's moved, a card from your hand is added to its original location. This ability has some crucial limitations: it's a one-time effect, unaffected by cards like Symbiote Spider-Man that might attempt to reuse it. Precise card targeting with Redwing also proves challenging. Move decks often utilize low-cost cards (like Iron Fist) that are undesirable targets, while Scream decks typically manipulate opponent's cards rather than their own.

Despite these limitations, affordable move cards like Madame Web or Cloak (accessible to lower Collection Level players) can effectively utilize Redwing. Its potential for surprising wins lies in strategically deploying high-value cards like Galactus early or drawing powerful cards such as The Infinaut.

Optimal Redwing Decks in Marvel Snap

Ares and Surtur dominated the previous season, and a new Scream-based deck incorporating Aero and Heimdall continues this strategy. Redwing surprisingly integrates well, although its use is secondary to the priority of playing Surtur on turn 3. This deck, however, is expensive, featuring several Series 5 cards (Hydra Bob, Scream, Redwing, Surtur, Ares, and Cull Obsidian). Hydra Bob can be substituted with other 1-cost cards like Rocket Racoon or Iceman, but the remaining Series 5 cards are essential. The strategy revolves around deploying Surtur on turn 3, following up with high-power cards to boost Surtur's power, and leveraging Scream to steal power. Polaris, Aero, and Magneto offer card manipulation, while Redwing can be moved to Heimdall to enhance Surtur and draw a high-power card.

Another potential deck incorporating Redwing utilizes Madame Web. Due to Dagger's nerf, move-based decks are less prevalent, making this a less common strategy. Madame Web's Ongoing ability complements Ongoing decks, offering a niche for Redwing. This deck (featuring Madame Web and Doom 2099) is primarily focused on Doom 2099's power distribution. Madame Web aids in manipulating Doom 2099's bots and moving Sam Wilson's shield. Redwing's activation is limited to being moved into Madame Web, pulling a card the following turn. Doctor Doom or Spectrum are typically played on turn 6 to maximize power and secure victory.

Is Redwing Worth Investing In?

Currently, Redwing's value is questionable. Its limited power and reliance on an underpowered archetype suggest saving resources for more impactful cards. Unless significant buffs are implemented, Redwing doesn't justify spending Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector's Tokens.
