- Raven2 is Netmarble's upcoming dark fantasy MMORPG
- Immerse yourself in a brutal world with a touch of camp
- Choose from diverse classes and experience classic MMORPG features
Dark fantasy has evolved into its own genre, largely because it offers an alternative to more family-friendly, cheerful styles. However, few mainstream MMORPGs truly embrace this aesthetic. That's why Netmarble's Raven2 is such an exciting prospect—it's positioning itself as the gritty, dark counterpart to World of Warcraft.
A quick heads-up: don't expect the realism and grit of Game of Thrones. Despite the shadowy landscapes and somber characters, this remains very much an MMORPG. You'll encounter oversized weapons and armor, along with grand, sprawling cities and environments that match the scale.
While it may not reach the complexity of Elden Ring, Raven2 delivers enough surface-level brutality to satisfy players seeking a more intense experience. As expected from a Netmarble title, there's a wide array of classes and abilities to help you carve through foes.

A Gritty Take on Grimdark
Raven2 is undoubtedly a polished production, though its identity can feel somewhat confused. Scantily clad sorceresses and superhuman berserkers don't exactly evoke the tones of Michael Moorcock or Robert E. Howard, regardless of your preferred shade of darkness.
Still, if you move past the marketing, Raven2 does carry a sharper edge than many of its peers. Whether that translates to gameplay, however, remains to be seen. Stay tuned for its release this October, and decide for yourself!
