In Their Shoes: A Narrative Game Focused on Listening
Indie studio We Are Muesli has unveiled an intriguing new narrative game titled In Their Shoes, slated for release in 2026 across both mobile and PC platforms. The game has already garnered attention, securing a nomination for the 'A MAZE. 2025' awards in Berlin, an event celebrating independent and arthouse games.
Set against the backdrop of contemporary Milan—a city known for its contradictions—In Their Shoes allows players to step into the lives of seven unique characters. The game unfolds through 49 interactive short stories, each termed a 'Moment,' offering intimate glimpses into the daily experiences of these characters.
Each Moment in In Their Shoes provides a deep dive into the characters' hesitations, routines, and the spontaneous decisions they face. Some segments are designed to unfold slowly, allowing players to immerse themselves in the characters' thought processes, while others demand quick reactions to mirror real-life pressures.
Unlike traditional narrative games, In Their Shoes presents a narrative that's intentionally untidy. As players navigate through the fragmented stories, they'll uncover 26 hidden biographical details about each character, creating a rich tapestry of slice-of-life experiences.
While the Play Store page is yet to be launched, eager fans can explore the Steam page for more details. For a sneak peek at the game, check out the announcement trailer below:
