Marvel Rivals developers have revealed plans to introduce new heroes monthly and shorten upcoming seasons. Below we detail their post-season 2 roadmap along with new character and cosmetic updates.
Marvel Rivals Upcoming Changes
New Heroes Every Month

NetEase announced an accelerated hero release schedule to maintain the game's freshness beyond launch. This strategic shift moves from their original plan of two heroes per season to monthly additions. Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong shared these details in Marvel Rivals' Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4.
The development team will implement shorter seasons - reducing from three months to two - enabling monthly hero introductions starting Season 3. Guangguang explained, "After careful evaluation, we'll adopt a two-month seasonal format with brand-new heroes debuting each month."

"Community feedback has motivated us to maintain the game's excitement," Guangguang noted. The studio also plans additional game modes to complement this content cadence, potentially delivering up to 12 new heroes annually.
When addressing balance concerns regarding this aggressive schedule, Guangguang referenced meticulous data analysis from March's PC Gamer interview: "We base our balance decisions on comprehensive metrics including pick rates, win percentages, and ability performance across all modes."
Season 2 Details and Future Plans

The Dev Vision showcase revealed Season 2: Hellfire Gala, where Emma Frost invites heroes to Krakoa. This new Vanguard character possesses telepathic abilities and diamond transmutation powers.
The season trailer previews elegant formalwear skins for Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther. The Hellfire Gala draws inspiration from Marvel's elite Hellfire Club, with its wealthy members manipulating global affairs.

Season 2.5 will introduce Ultron as revealed when his robotic forces disrupt the gala, foreshadowing an Age of Ultron storyline. Currently, no additional Ultron details have been disclosed.
