HoYoverse, the global arm of Chinese developer miHoYo, has filed a trademark for "Honkai Nexus Anima," suggesting an expansion of its Honkai universe. While details about this new intellectual property remain scarce, its name implies it could be the third title in the Honkai lineup, following Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Star Rail.

The trademark application surfaced briefly on Korea’s Intellectual Property Information Search (KIPRIS) website before being removed. However, the U.S. filing is publicly available on the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) website.

The Honkai series began with Honkai Impact 3rd, a free-to-play mobile action RPG considered a spiritual successor to the 2D side-scrolling shooter Houkai Gakuen 2. In 2023, HoYoverse launched Honkai Star Rail, a turn-based mobile game.

Though both titles share thematic elements like space and occasional character similarities, they exist in distinct universes with unique narratives. Fans speculate that Honkai Nexus Anima may introduce a fresh genre, aligning with miHoYo’s history of diverse game development.

Following the trademark filing, new Twitter (X) accounts named after Honkai Nexus Anima appeared. These accounts, such as "@HonkaiNA," "@HonkaiNA_RU," and "@HonkaiNA_FR," follow a consistent naming pattern, possibly tied to regional branding. This move suggests HoYoverse is securing social media handles to ensure uniform branding across platforms.

miHoYo’s Recent Job Listings

Earlier this year, miHoYo shared job postings that offered clues about its next projects. According to GosuGamers, referencing a tweet by @chibi0108, the company is developing an "auto-chess" game featuring "Destined Spirits" in combat. While the original job listings are no longer accessible, fans speculate that Honkai Nexus Anima may be connected to this project.

HoYoverse has not yet confirmed these speculations or announced the game officially. However, given miHoYo’s successful track record with titles like Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, anticipation is high for their next release.
