Ghost of Yotei October Launch Confirmed in July Showcase

by Lily Dec 23,2025

Sucker Punch Productions is set to unveil a deep dive into Ghost of Yōtei gameplay during a special State of Play presentation next month.

Following today’s June 2025 State of Play showcase, a PlayStation Blog post confirmed plans to reveal more about how the highly anticipated samurai sequel has refined its combat and mechanics. While the Ghost of Tsushima follow-up made a brief appearance near the end of the presentation, it primarily served as reassurance that Sucker Punch remains on track for its October launch.

Although the fleeting glimpse of Ghost of Yōtei may have left some fans wanting more, the dedicated July State of Play deep dive should help bridge the wait. While an exact date for Sucker Punch’s showcase hasn’t been announced, it’s expected to focus entirely on Ghost of Yōtei’s evolved gameplay mechanics—covering exploration, combat, and more.

Sucker Punch officially announced the Ghost of Tsushima sequel last September, introducing players to a new protagonist, Atsu, as she undertakes a violent journey across Japan in 1603. Fans who’ve been eager for story and gameplay updates since the original’s 2020 debut will be pleased to know that director Nate Fox has emphasized the team’s commitment to delivering another respectful representation of Japanese culture.

Ghost of Yōtei launches on October 2, 2025, for PS5. For a recap of everything announced during today’s June 2025 State of Play, click here. In the meantime, you can catch up on all the latest details about Ghost of Yōtei to help pass the time until more information arrives.
