Breath of Fire IV, a beloved classic from Capcom, has been resurrected on PC, 25 years after its initial release. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, and in Europe in 2001, the game saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. This role-playing game follows the journey of Ryu, a protagonist who possesses the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a group of warriors, Ryu embarks on a quest to thwart an emperor's destructive ambitions and save the world.
Thanks to GOG's ongoing Preservation Program, Breath of Fire IV has been meticulously updated for today's PC users and is now available DRM-free on their platform. The enhanced version is optimized for modern systems, ensuring compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. It features both English and Japanese language options, and boasts upgraded graphics through an enhanced DirectX renderer. Players can enjoy new display settings such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and improved gamma correction for a richer visual experience. Furthermore, the audio system has been refined, bringing back missing environmental sounds and introducing new configuration options for a more immersive gameplay.
