Obsidian Entertainment has unveiled Avowed's 2025 roadmap alongside comprehensive patch notes for version 1.4.
The fantasy RPG developer shared these details today through its official website. While update 1.4 introduces notable additions – including an arachnophobia mode that transforms spiders into harmless-looking spheres and improvements to map navigation – the long-term roadmap showcases even more ambitious plans.
The studio has outlined three major updates throughout 2025. The current 1.4 update delivers quality-of-life improvements like Xbox mouse/keyboard support, expanded loot systems, gear balancing, and a new party camp feature. Summer will bring cooking/crafting enhancements, expanded NPC interactions, additional weapons/armor, and custom map markers.
The fall update represents Obsidian's most substantial enhancement yet, introducing highly-requested features like New Game Plus and Photo Mode alongside new weapon types, expanded character customization, and appearance alteration options.
Localization efforts are also underway: "We recognize our Korean, Japanese, and French-speaking communities deserve quality translations," Obsidian stated. "We're actively developing Korean and Japanese versions while refining French localization."
Originally launched February 2025 for PC and Xbox Series X|S (including Game Pass), Avowed continues expanding its fantasy realm. Update 1.4 introduces accessibility options, gameplay refinements, and hundreds of bug fixes detailed in the extensive patch notes.
The comprehensive update addresses quality-of-life improvements across all game systems:
- New arachnophobia accessibility option
- Improved map exploration mechanics
- Enhanced enemy AI behaviors
- Balanced combat systems
- Expanded crafting/economy
- Refined companion interactions
- Visual/technical optimizations
Obsidian concludes by teasing future content: "We can't wait to show you what's coming next." Players can experience these changes immediately across all platforms.
