Phỏm Ta La - Tien Len Online is a beloved and widely recognized card game among Vietnamese players, especially popular in the northern regions. Known as "Ta La" in the south and "Phom" in the north, this game combines strategy, skill, and a bit of luck, making it a favorite during family gatherings and holidays.
When playing Phom, participants aim to form sets of cards called phom, while discarding unwanted cards strategically to minimize their penalty points. Played with a standard 52-card deck and offering various styles of play, Phom brings excitement and entertainment to every round.
Key Terms in Phom (Ta La)
- Phom: A valid set consisting of at least three consecutive cards of the same suit or three cards of the same rank.
- Junk Cards: Cards that do not belong to any phom and are counted against you at the end of the round.
- Ù (Winning): Achieved when a player successfully arranges all their cards into phoms—no junk cards remain.
- Stomach (Nọc): The pile of remaining cards placed face-down in the center after dealing.
- Mom: A player who fails to form even one phom by the end of the round.
- Take the Pin (Ăn Chốt): When a player picks up the last discarded card before the game ends.
- Send: If your last card can be added to the phom of the player who just played, you may send it and avoid point penalties.
- Compensation (Chặt): If a player takes the pin and another player subsequently wins, the pin-taker must compensate them. Additional compensation rules apply for consecutive card pickups.
- Re: After laying down cards, if another player plays matching ones, you get an extra turn.
