Old School RuneScape’s latest update plunges players back into the tumultuous political landscape and the sinister depths of Great Kourend, where an ancient and enraged force has awakened. The new boss, Yama, the Master of Pacts, a formidable fire-drenched minotaur demon, has been biding his time in the Chasm of Fire, amassing power for his assault.
If you’ve completed A Kingdom Divided and tackled the Royal Titans, this update continues the saga right where it left off. After confronting Yama’s Judge in 2021, it was clear the true menace was still lurking—with wings, horns, hooves, and a menacing two-handed axe. Yama is supported by the Disciples of Yama, a cult of fire-worshippers ready to sacrifice themselves for their master.
Designed for high-level players, battling Yama requires completion of the relevant quest, top-tier combat stats, and the best gear available. The challenge can be taken on solo or with a team. Victory over Yama grants access to new loot such as Demon Tallow for crafting Surge Potions, Chasm of Fire Teleport Scrolls, valuable Grimoire Pages, and other concealed treasures.
The Chasm of Fire has also been expanded to include a dedicated area for mining and smithing. Here, players can extract Crimson Lovakite, a rare resource unique to this fiery locale. With Crimson Lovakite, you can craft Oathplate, a powerful new armor set that significantly enhances your late-game capabilities. Even if boss battles aren't your thing, there's still plenty of reason to explore this area.
