Xbox Receives Final Fantasy 16 Today, FF7 Remake Intergrade This Winter

by Ryan Jul 08,2025

Xbox fans have finally received their long-awaited opportunity to experience some of the most recent entries in the iconic *Final Fantasy* series — with a surprise "shadow drop" of *Final Fantasy 16* available today. This marks a major milestone for Xbox Series X/S players who have patiently waited to dive into one of Square Enix’s most ambitious and story-driven titles.

Later this year, during the winter season, *Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade* will also make its way to Xbox platforms, continuing the trend of bringing these celebrated RPGs to a wider audience. The release of *Final Fantasy 16* on Xbox comes after a two-year gap since its original launch on PlayStation 5 in June 2023, followed by a PC release in September 2024. Now, Xbox owners can finally enjoy the game's rich narrative, cinematic presentation, and deep combat system.

The original *Final Fantasy 7 Remake* debuted in 2020 exclusively for PlayStation 4, later receiving the enhanced *Intergrade* treatment in 2021 for PS5 and PC. With both *Final Fantasy 16* and the upcoming *FF7 Remake Intergrade* now confirmed for Xbox, it signals a broader push to bring the latest entries in the legendary franchise to all major platforms.

This staggered but strategic rollout suggests that *Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth* may not be far behind — potentially arriving sooner than many expect. As noted in IGN’s *Final Fantasy 16* review: “Its excellent story, characters, and world building are right up there with the best the series has to offer, and the innovative Active Time Lore feature should set a new standard for how lengthy, story-heavy games keep players invested in its world.”

Meanwhile, IGN’s take on *Final Fantasy 7 Remake* highlighted its strengths and weaknesses: “Its dull filler and convoluted additions can cause it to stumble, but it still breathes exciting new life into a classic while standing as a great RPG all its own.”
