After less than a year on the market, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is coming to an abrupt end. Activision has announced that the mobile rendition of the popular battle royale game will no longer receive seasonal updates or fresh content. As of May 18th, the game has been removed from both the App Store and Google Play Store. Real-money transactions are no longer available, and those who missed the installation deadline will be unable to access the game.
This sudden halt marks the end of a notable mobile launch that sought to extend the full Warzone experience to mobile users. Despite the studio's satisfaction with how accurately the game mirrored the Warzone experience on handheld devices, it seems the game did not resonate as strongly with mobile audiences as it did with PC and console players.
For players who have the game installed, online access remains open after May 19th. Matchmaking and online play will continue for the time being, though social features are now disabled, and there's no set date for when the servers might shut down completely. The in-game store will stay open, but only for those with existing COD Points, and no new purchases can be made.
As a gesture of goodwill, players with unused COD Points can transfer them to Call of Duty: Mobile. This redemption period, offering double the value of your leftover Warzone Mobile COD Points along with additional rewards, is available until August 15th. Simply log in to Call of Duty: Mobile with your Activision account to claim your benefits.
For those who haven't installed or reinstalled the game by May 19th, this is your final opportunity. Post-deadline, no refunds will be provided, and the game will become inaccessible. This marks a disheartening conclusion to what was intended to be a significant expansion of the Warzone universe, serving as a stark reminder that even the most renowned franchises may not always thrive on mobile platforms.
