by Aiden May 15,2025

Short Circuit Studio has just rolled out a thrilling new update for their recently launched settlement builder, TownsFolk. Dubbed "Shadows and Fortune," this update perfectly complements the game's dark, pixel-art aesthetic with a slew of fresh mechanics to delve into.

Even though TownsFolk is newly launched, it's not shying away from enriching its gameplay. The "Shadows and Fortune" update introduces new buildings and challenges that will keep you on your toes. Prepare to encounter roaming Barbarians that will add a thrilling edge to both your campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Eight new structures are also making their debut: the Altar, the Town Square, the Blacksmith, the Aqueduct, the Bank, the Granary, the Factory, and the Terraformer, each offering unique strategic opportunities.

The water tiles are getting a splashy upgrade with the introduction of the rare Whale, adding a new layer of intrigue to your aquatic explorations. Additionally, Special Locations such as ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks will ramp up the unpredictability of your adventures, making you wonder, "What does that ancient Obelisk do?"
