Tony Todd's Final Farewell in 'Final Destination'

by Andrew Oct 02,2025

There's no denying the thrill of witnessing a new Final Destination installment arrive in theaters. Final Destination: Bloodlines delivers the long-awaited sixth chapter of this legendary franchise, and true to form, horror icon Tony Todd makes an unforgettable appearance. Best known for his chilling role in Candyman, Todd delivers a gripping monologue—one that producer Craig Perry reveals was entirely improvised, calling the actor's final performance "heartfelt yet bittersweet."

"We were all acutely aware of his declining health," Perry told Deadline, reflecting on Todd's final role after producing every film in the franchise since its 2000 debut. "It was evident this would be his last film, so having it be part of Final Destination made the moment even more impactful."

Perry shared that directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein made a bold choice during filming—rather than sticking to the script, they encouraged Todd to speak from the heart in his pivotal scene.

"Our directors brilliantly decided to scrap the final scripted lines," Perry explained. "They told Tony, 'Just say what you’d want to tell the fans. Share whatever feels right in this moment.' That raw authenticity is what makes the scene so powerful—his words weren't written, they were a direct message to the fans who've stood by him for decades. It was a profoundly moving moment on set, one I’ll never forget."
