Today marks an exciting addition to the *Star Wars Outlaws* universe with the launch of the "A Pirate's Fortune" DLC on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The spotlight shines on Hondo Ohnaka, the beloved Weequay pirate from the Darth Maul comics and *Star Wars: The Clone Wars* animated series, who has become the centerpiece of this new expansion.
Drew Rechner, Creative Director at Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment, shared with IGN that the team's passion for Hondo Ohnaka drove the creation of the DLC. "We always knew because there were so many passionate people on the team that we needed to feature Hondo. And, you know, that scoundrel fantasy of Kay mixing with the pirate fantasy of Hondo, it just kind of makes sense, right?" Rechner explained. He also highlighted how the narrative explores Kay's journey into leadership, with Hondo potentially serving as a mentor, adding depth and intrigue to the storyline.
The "A Pirate's Fortune" DLC introduces players to a thrilling new adventure involving the Rokana Raiders crime gang and the Miyuki Trade League. The latter can provide Kay with essential upgrades for her Trailblazer ship. Additionally, a new blaster capability called Shock has been added, enhancing gameplay dynamics.
In other exciting news, *Star Wars Outlaws* is set to release on the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4. While Rechner remained tight-lipped about specific new features for the Switch 2 version, he assured fans that more details would be forthcoming. "In terms of a specific feature set, that's something that we will get into later. So we'll have more stuff to talk about later," he teased. Potential enhancements could include the use of Switch 2 controllers as a mouse and a new GameChat capability, promising an enriched gaming experience on the new platform.
