Skate Expands Playtesting to Include Console Players

Skateboarding Returns: Console Playtesting for the Highly Anticipated skate. Begins

Good news for console gamers! The long-awaited skate. title, a new installment in the popular Skate franchise, is now available for playtesting on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. While PC players have been involved in testing since mid-2022, this marks the first opportunity for Xbox and PlayStation users to experience a new Skate game in over 15 years.

The last mainline entry, Skate 3, launched in 2010. Despite a dedicated fanbase, EA seemingly shelved the franchise for an extended period. However, persistent fan support, fueled by the #Skate4 hashtag, ultimately led to the announcement of a dedicated development team and the creation of skate. Initially slated for early access in 2025, this console playtest represents significant progress towards that goal.

Via the official skate. Twitter account, Xbox and PlayStation players can now participate in the playtest via the skate. Insider program (registration required). A recent video featuring developers offered a brief update, confirming additional Black hairstyle options and playfully addressing the previously announced "Fall 2024" playtest timeframe. Specific gameplay details, such as the improved replay editor, remain unconfirmed.

EA has confirmed skate. will be a free-to-play, live-service game set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam. This city, still under development, draws inspiration from San Vanelona and Port Carverton, along with real-world locations. While a map leaked in 2023, it's likely undergone significant changes since then. Fans can either join the playtest or patiently await the wider release.

Other Skate Games to Enjoy in the Meantime

While skate. is targeting an early access launch in 2025, delays are always a possibility. Fortunately, several other skateboarding games offer enjoyable alternatives until the official release.
