Exciting news for fans of Hollow Knight: Silksong as a playable demo will be featured at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture. Dive into the details of the upcoming exhibit and what to expect from this eagerly awaited event.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version
Available at Game Worlds in Australia
The anticipation for Hollow Knight: Silksong has been building since its announcement, and now fans can finally get a taste of the game at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This playable version at ACMI promises to be a significant step beyond the E3 2019 demo, which was more of a "proof of concept."
ACMI's Game Worlds exhibition, running from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026, will showcase several iconic titles, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and the much-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong. Visitors will experience exclusive custom builds alongside original design materials, concept art, and iconic objects from these games.
In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about featuring Silksong. They stated, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September."
Since its announcement, details about Silksong have been scarce, leaving fans to rely on rumors and speculation. The Game Worlds exhibit at ACMI aims to quench this thirst for information by offering in-depth insights into the game.
The co-curators elaborated on what attendees can expect, saying, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design."
While the event at ACMI might hint at Silksong's release window, no official release date has been confirmed yet. The game briefly appeared during the Switch 2 Direct last month, with a confirmed release window of 2025. Given that the exhibit extends into 2026, fans are hopeful that Silksong might launch sometime in September or during the exhibit's run.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates by checking out our related articles below!
