Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its latest flagship smartphone, during its May Unpacked event. While it shares many similarities with the Galaxy S25 released earlier in 2025, the standout feature of this new model is its ultra-slim design—which gives the device a true competitive *Edge*.
In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It features the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and includes a nearly identical 200MP primary camera setup. The key distinction lies in the chassis: the Galaxy S25 Edge has been dramatically slimmed down to just 5.8mm in thickness, compared to the 8.2mm thickness of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This reduction in size also results in a lighter device, weighing in at only 163 grams.
Despite its thinner profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same expansive 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found in the standard Galaxy S25 lineup. Interestingly, this display remains slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch screen featured on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, even though both devices offer similar visual performance metrics.
With such a large and thin form factor, concerns around durability are inevitable. Samsung claims to have addressed this by equipping the device with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2—an upgrade from the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, while drop resistance may be improved, the real test will likely come from everyday use—like what happens when the phone is accidentally bent while sitting in a tight pocket. Let’s hope this update is enough to prevent another “bendgate” scenario.
The Galaxy S25 Edge also continues Samsung’s push into mobile artificial intelligence, featuring the same advanced “Mobile AI” tools introduced with the Galaxy S24 and further refined in 2025. Thanks to the power of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, much of the AI processing can now be done directly on the device, offering enhanced privacy and faster response times. While some AI functions still rely on cloud computing, Samsung has introduced several useful local features, including smart summarization of notifications and news articles for quick viewing.
For those interested, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is available for preorder starting today. Pricing begins at $1,099 for the 256GB variant and $1,219 for the 512GB version. The device comes in three elegant color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
Samsung is clearly pushing the narrative that this sleek device is as tough as it is stylish—let’s hope their confidence in its durability is well-founded.
