Ryan Gosling Leads 'Star Wars: Starfighter' Film, Set for May 2027 Release

Lucasfilm unveiled Star Wars: Starfighter, a new film directed by Shawn Levy of Deadpool & Wolverine fame, featuring Ryan Gosling, slated for theaters on May 28, 2027. The story unfolds five years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The announcement came at Star Wars Celebration, with production set to start this fall.

Little is known about Star Wars: Starfighter, except that Gosling will portray a new character, offering fans a reason to mark Memorial Day 2027 on their calendars.

In a touching moment, Gosling shared that his mother sent him a childhood photo of his Star Wars-themed bedsheets upon landing the role.

Star Wars: Starfighter joins a new era of Star Wars films, including The Mandalorian & Grogu and projects from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, Taika Waititi, and Simon Kinberg’s trilogy.

The title may ring a bell, as Star Wars: Starfighter was originally a video game released in 2001.
