Rockstar Claims GTA 6 Trailer 2 Sets Record for Largest Video Launch

by Natalie May 13,2025

Rockstar Games has declared that the launch of the GTA 6 Trailer 2 has become the largest video launch of all time, surpassing even the most significant movie trailer debuts. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer amassed a staggering 475 million views across various platforms on its debut day. This figure dwarfs the initial 24-hour viewership of other notable trailers like Deadpool & Wolverine, which garnered 365 million views, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, with 200 million. Last year's Superman trailer, which achieved over 250 million views and was the most-watched in the history of DC and Warner Bros., pales in comparison to the monumental success of GTA 6 Trailer 2.

It's important to highlight that GTA 6 Trailer 1, which was initially released exclusively on YouTube and secured 93 million views on its first day, set a record as the biggest non-music video launch on the platform. As of May 8, GTA 6 Trailer 2 has already reached 85,276,196 views on Rockstar's official YouTube channel.

IGN has reported on the significant impact of GTA 6 Trailer 2 on music, particularly noting the surge in Spotify streams for The Pointer Sisters’ Hot Together. The 1986 song experienced a phenomenal 182,000% increase in global streams within the first two hours after the trailer's premiere.

“Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else,” remarked Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial, Sulinna Ong. “Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it’s great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way.”

The release of GTA 6 Trailer 2 follows the game's high-profile delay from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026. With expectations soaring, GTA 6 is poised to be the biggest entertainment launch ever, potentially setting new revenue benchmarks not only for video games but also for the entertainment industry as a whole.
