Why Do Dice Break in Citizen Sleeper 2?
The primary culprit behind broken dice in Citizen Sleeper 2 is Stress. Over time, as you encounter failed actions or endure the consequences of being in a “Starving” state, your stress levels will rise. Higher stress increases the likelihood of your dice breaking. Each die can handle up to three hits before requiring repair. Once that threshold is crossed, it’s time to head to a workshop.
How to Repair Dice in Citizen Sleeper 2
Though dice can break early in the game while on Hexport, you won’t be able to repair them until reaching Far Spindle. There, you’ll meet Bliss, who introduces the Rig Workshop aboard your ship. When not on a Contract, you can utilize this workshop to mend your dice. You’ll have two options for repairs: Improvised Repairs and Dice Repair.
What’s the Difference Between Improvised Repairs and Dice Repair?
Improvised Repairs cost 2 Scrap Components. While this method fixes one die, it raises the Glitch meter, increasing the risk of ending up with a glitched die.
On the other hand, Dice Repair requires 1 Rare Component. These are harder to come by, but they contribute less to the Glitch meter.
Generally, if you can spare the Rare Components, opting for Dice Repair is preferable. That said, Improvised Repairs worked fine for me throughout the game. By the later stages of Citizen Sleeper 2, Rare Components become easier to acquire, so there’s no need to hoard them excessively.
Can You Repair Glitched Dice?
Occasionally, especially depending on the difficulty setting, you may encounter glitched dice, which carry a flat 20% chance of positive outcomes and an 80% chance of negative ones. Although the game lacks a direct method to fix them, certain story events—particularly those following the “Diagnose Your Frame” drive—repair a single glitched die. So, all hope isn’t lost!
