Pokémon TCG Pocket, released in October 2024, has seen the addition of the Mythical Island booster pack with 68 new cards. While some players completed the initial Genetic Apex packs (226 cards across three packs), speculation arose that upcoming expansions might render Pack Hourglasses useless. This concern is now unfounded.
Screen Rant reported The Pokémon Company's statement confirming the ongoing utility of Pack Hourglasses, reducing booster pack opening delays by one hour per hourglass, regardless of the expansion. This contradicts earlier suggestions of a new expansion-specific currency for hourglass functionality. Players can therefore continue accumulating Pack Hourglasses for future use.
Pack Hourglasses: A Persistent Feature
Without Pack Hourglasses, players earn Pack Stamina through 12-hour intervals, allowing for two pack openings daily. Hourglasses are obtained via daily challenges and the daily-renewing Complimentary Item Set in the shop. Twelve hourglasses are needed to bypass a full 12-hour wait. Pokémon TCG Pocket utilizes various other currencies, including Wonder Hourglasses, different Ticket types, Poke Gold, and Pack Points.
The confirmation that Pack Hourglasses remain relevant should alleviate concerns among players who had stockpiled them. Given the game's success, future expansions for Pokémon TCG Pocket are highly likely.
