The Pokémon Company has officially announced the North American debut of the Pokémon Fossil Museum, scheduled for May 2026.
For those unfamiliar, the Pokémon Fossil Museum is precisely what its name suggests. Following its successful run in Japan, this unique exhibition—which draws intriguing parallels between imaginary Pokémon "fossils" and actual prehistoric specimens—will open at Chicago's Field Museum on May 22, 2026, marking its first international appearance.
"Visitors will encounter colorful Pokémon displays alongside genuine fossils from the Field Museum's collections," the museum revealed. "Iconic specimens like SUE the T. rex and the Chicago Archaeopteryx will be shown alongside Fossil Pokémon such as Tyrantrum and Archeops. Trainers, how many similarities and differences can you spot?"

Can't make it to Japan or Chicago? The Pokémon Company and Toyohashi Museum of Natural History have created a digital solution. Fans worldwide can now explore the Pokémon Fossil Museum virtually, examining both authentic fossils and their Pokémon counterparts—from Tyrannosaurus to Tyrantrum—without leaving home.
In other Pokémon-related news, authorities in the UK recently apprehended a suspect in possession of stolen Pokémon cards valued at £250,000 (approximately $332,500). The collection was uncovered during a police raid in Greater Manchester. A spokesperson quipped: "Gotta catch 'em all."
