If there’s one thing that gets gamers buzzing, it’s the hint of a potential Ring Fit Adventure sequel for the Nintendo Switch 2. A freshly published patent has reignited speculation that Nintendo may be preparing to bring back its innovative fitness RPG with an all-new controller accessory.
The patent was filed at the end of May 2025 and officially published this week. Although the images remain redacted, the document clearly identifies Nintendo as the owner and categorizes the invention under "video game controllers (accessories)." Most notably, the name Fumiyoshi Suetake appears in the filing—this is significant because he was the lead designer behind the original Ring Fit Adventure, released in 2019 for the Nintendo Switch. That title became a massive hit, selling over 15 million units worldwide and combining fitness gameplay with an innovative resistance ring controller.
Suetake's involvement strongly suggests that this new patent could relate to a successor or evolution of the Ring Fit concept. Adding fuel to the fire, Nintendo recently extended the patent on the original Ring Fit controller, indicating ongoing investment and legal protection for the product line.
Further evidence comes from Foxconn, a major manufacturing partner of Nintendo, which previously hinted at working on new “force sensing technology” for a gaming company. The firm released a diagram showing what appears to be an updated version of the Ring Fit device, reinforcing the idea of a next-gen fitness controller in development.

With all these clues pointing in the same direction, it’s easy to imagine a new Ring Fit Adventure title launching alongside or shortly after the Nintendo Switch 2. Even though the original game gained popularity during the 2020 lockdowns, its unique gameplay blend and fitness appeal remain relevant today.
“Ring Fit Adventure offers an inventive fitness RPG that doesn’t quite have all the moves,” IGN noted in our original review, praising the game’s “fun and challenging blend of exercise and RPG mechanics.”
As excitement builds around the Switch 2 launch, fans are eagerly awaiting confirmation of a sequel that could push both fitness and gameplay even further. For now, this patent keeps the rumors spinning—and hopes high.
