Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
Square Enix marked NieR's 15th anniversary with a series of announcements during the livestream on April 19. One of the highlights was the introduction of the online Special Novel titled [U]ndecided Option. The novel will be updated in three parts, with the first already available and the subsequent updates scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's synopsis teases, "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
In conjunction with this, Square Enix launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, serving as a hub for the online novel and other related projects and events planned for the celebration.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork of the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Further details on tickets and the event will be shared soon.
Fans can also look forward to additional performances at the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024, scheduled for Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are available through a lottery system, with more information available on the concert's official website.
A range of new merchandise has been unveiled, including a jazz album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin' or Other 12024, set to release in December 2024, the NieR Weapon Story book featuring over 650 weapon stories from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, and scale figures of the series' protagonists.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
Starting April 28, the team behind NieR Re[in]carnation, the franchise's first mobile title launched in January 2021 and shut down in April 2024, will launch a monthly developer blog. These updates, set to continue throughout the year, will offer insights into the development process of Re[in]carnation.
Despite the game's closure due to monetization issues, the developer blog has sparked speculation among fans about a potential sequel or remake, though no official announcements have been made.
The livestream concluded with an over 20-minute live performance featuring soundtracks from the NieR series. Square Enix promises more exciting events and merchandise announcements for NieR fans in the near future.
