The most efficient way to reach Mutt is by fast traveling to the Nomads’ Camp. From there, head out along the path and proceed southwest into the forest. Following this route should bring you to the top of the cave area. As you approach, you’ll begin to hear Mutt whining nearby. Follow the sound until you locate him in a clearing near the cave alongside a small pack of wolves.
Once you get close enough, a cutscene will trigger where you discover Mutt surrounded by wolves. This moment also includes a tutorial on how to control Mutt in combat. At this point, you have two choices: engage in battle or flee the scene. Fighting isn't too difficult, and it's a great opportunity to gain some experience with your combat skills.
After handling the wolves, Mutt will officially return to your side. Press L1 while looking at him to interact. You can feed him using food from your inventory or send him back to your home base if needed.
