Monster Train, a captivating roguelite deck-building game, has now arrived on Android after its initial release on PC in 2020, followed by consoles and iOS in 2022. Often compared to Slay the Spire due to its genre and gameplay, Monster Train offers a unique twist that sets it apart.
What Does Monster Train Bring to Android?
In Monster Train, you're tasked with safeguarding the last burning pyre on a train journey into the frozen heart of hell against heavenly invaders. What distinguishes Monster Train is its innovative three vertical lane system, where you manage battles across three fronts simultaneously, unlike the typical single battlefield found in most games.
As you progress, you can unlock over 250 cards and explore five distinct monster clans. Each clan boasts a unique playstyle, and you have the freedom to combine two clans at a time for varied strategies. Furthermore, each clan offers ten levels of upgrades, allowing you to enhance your cards the more you use them. Champions, the game's standout units, can be upgraded multiple times to become even more formidable.
The Android release of Monster Train comes packed with all the latest updates, including the Wild Mutations and Friends & Foes expansions. Wild Mutations introduces 35 new mutators and new difficulty settings, adding fresh challenges and replayability. Meanwhile, Friends & Foes enriches the game with new champions, bosses, cards, and artifacts.
Additionally, the game includes The Last Divinity DLC, enhancing replay value with the introduction of a new clan, the Wurmkin, which you can unlock after beating Covenant level 1. The DLC also features the Pact Shards mechanic, offering powerful boosts and a formidable final boss, ‘The Last Divinity.’
Will You Try It Out?
Monster Train on Android is fully playable offline, including in airplane mode, making it perfect for gaming on the go. You can purchase the full version for $10, with in-app purchases mainly focused on unlocking the complete game. Once bought through your Google account, your purchase transfers across devices seamlessly. The game also supports cloud saves, ensuring you never lose your progress when switching phones. Note, however, that there is no controller support. Be sure to check it out on the Google Play Store.
