Monster Hunter Wilds Will Focus On Humans And Nature
A Deeper Understanding Of What It Means To Be A Hunter
The Monster Hunter series is renowned for its thrilling monster hunts, but Capcom is keen to spotlight a more profound theme in Monster Hunter Wilds: the symbiotic relationship between hunters and nature. Dive deeper to discover what's on the horizon for this highly anticipated title!
In Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom aims to enrich the narrative around the symbiotic bond between humans and monsters. The game's development team is committed to showcasing this theme more prominently, while also infusing the player character with a stronger sense of personality.
The thematic core of Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds) revolves around the intricate relationship between the natural world and its inhabitants. "The relationship between people, nature, and monsters, and the hunter's role in that ecosystem... We wanted to convey this not only through gameplay but also through a deeply engaging story," explained game director Yuya Tokuda in an interview with PC Gamer. "We have many exciting plans aligned with the concept of Monster Hunter Wilds, and we believe this game successfully captures the essence of what we aimed to express."
To bring this vision to life, Monster Hunter Wilds will feature enhanced dialogue, allowing players to imbue their hunter characters with more personality. Tokuda highlighted the diverse cast of characters, such as Nata and Olivia, who come from varied backgrounds and approach the monster situation differently. "We wanted to showcase the different perspectives of people living in this world and how a hunter might feel and think within it," Tokuda stated. "Each person is unique, and we've incorporated these elements into Monster Hunter Wilds."
This approach marks a departure from the series' traditional silent protagonists and limited dialogue options. However, for those who prefer the classic silent character and focus primarily on gameplay, the shift in narrative focus will not detract from the robust combat system.
"Players who wish to skip the narrative elements and dive straight into hunting can do so without missing out on any monsters," Tokuda reassured. "The amount of text in the game does not affect the number of monsters available, ensuring a fulfilling experience for all players." This is just the beginning, as Tokuda hinted at "many other things planned down the line" that will further explore the theme of the bond between humans and nature.
