Lost in Cult and Cook and Becker Reveal Legacy of Kain Encyclopedia
Following the December 2024 release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, Crystal Dynamics has revealed two new initiatives set within the beloved gothic universe.
A recent press release details their partnership with UK creative studio Lost In Cult and Dutch art dealer Cook and Becker to bring these ambitious projects to fruition. “We’re thrilled to return to the world of Nosgoth with these passion-driven endeavors,” stated Ryan Brown of Lost In Cult.
The first project, The Book of Nosgoth, is an official compendium exploring the dark fantasy realm that serves as the series' backdrop. Authored by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun, this encyclopedia provides an exhaustive guide to the lands, factions, and characters of Nosgoth, alongside a historical timeline detailing the legendary conflict between Kain and Raziel.
Beyond in-depth lore, The Book of Nosgoth offers a behind-the-scenes look at the series' creation, showcasing original concept art, sketches, cartography, and developer interviews. This volume examines the development of all five games, providing an extensive account of the franchise's production journey.
Official Legacy of Kain Tabletop RPG Arriving Shortly
The second announcement is Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan, a narrative tabletop RPG set during the Sarafan Order's holy war against the vampire threat. Built on the acclaimed MÖRK BORG system, this game delivers streamlined mechanics and tense gameplay where players assume the roles of Sarafan warrior priests.
Featuring six distinct classes, specialized equipment and magic, a bestiary of nightmarish creatures, and the complete terrain of Nosgoth, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan enables adventurers to carve their own destiny through vampire hunting, uncovering forgotten history, and ventures into the spirit world.
