NBC Universal has debuted the final trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth, showcasing pivotal moments from the film alongside striking glimpses of both familiar and newly introduced dinosaurs.

Jurassic World Rebirth, featuring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, follows an elite extraction team venturing into the planet’s most perilous location—a remote island once home to Jurassic Park’s original research facility, now teeming with abandoned, deadly dinosaurs. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and written by David Koepp, the original Jurassic Park screenwriter, the film promises intense action and suspense.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Five years after Jurassic World Dominion, Earth’s ecosystems remain largely unsuitable for dinosaurs. The surviving species are confined to isolated equatorial regions, where climates mirror their ancient habitats. Within this tropical zone, the DNA of the three largest creatures—spanning land, sea, and air—holds the key to a groundbreaking drug with life-saving potential for humanity.
Academy Award nominee Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, a seasoned covert operations specialist tasked with leading an expert team on a clandestine mission to harvest this genetic material. Their operation collides with a civilian family whose boating trip is overturned by aggressive aquatic dinosaurs, stranding them all on a forbidden island. Once a secret Jurassic Park research hub, the island harbors diverse dinosaur species and a chilling, long-concealed discovery that shocks the world.

What does the final trailer reveal? Standout moments include a gripping river raft sequence inspired by Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park novel. In January, Koepp shared that he revisited Crichton’s novels to prepare for this sequel, which lacks a direct source novel. He incorporated a previously unused scene from the original book. “There was a thrilling sequence we always loved but couldn’t fit into the 1993 film,” Koepp explained. “Now, we’ve brought it to life.”

Can a T-Rex swim? Surprisingly, yes.

The trailer also introduces new dinosaurs, including a detailed look at the Distortus Rex, or D-Rex, a menacing mutant hybrid unique to Jurassic World Rebirth. Director Gareth Edwards described it to Empire as a fusion of a T-Rex with a Star Wars Rancor, infused with an H.R. Giger-inspired aesthetic.

Meet the Distortus Rex, or D-Rex, with distinct Rancor-like traits.

The trailer also showcases the Mutadons, winged creatures blending pterosaur and raptor traits, as described by Koepp.

Jurassic Park’s signature raptor terror evolves with the Mutadons.
