HBO has revealed the actors set to portray Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley in its forthcoming TV series.
The HBO Original Harry Potter television series has selected newcomers Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

Showrunner and executive producer Francesca Gardiner, alongside director Mark Mylod, who will helm multiple episodes, shared a joint statement: “Following an extensive casting process led by Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we’re thrilled to introduce our Harry, Hermione, and Ron.
“The remarkable talent of these three actors is truly captivating, and we’re eager for audiences to experience their onscreen chemistry. We extend our gratitude to the countless young performers who auditioned, as it’s been a joy to uncover such incredible talent.”
In April, Warner Bros. and HBO announced the first six actors cast to bring fresh interpretations to beloved Hogwarts professors in the upcoming Harry Potter series.
This initial casting reveal featured John Lithgow (Conclave, Dexter), who had previously confirmed his role as Albus Dumbledore, alongside other actors whose names had been widely speculated or rumored.

Fans won’t be shocked to see Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) cast as Rubeus Hagrid and Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, Black Mirror) as Severus Snape. The ensemble also includes Janet McTeer (Me Before You, The Menu) as Minerva McGonagall, Luke Thallon (The Favourite, Present Laughter) as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse (The Fast Show, Alice Through the Looking Glass) as Argus Filch.
Hogwarts icons Dumbledore, Hagrid, and Snape are not only legendary within the Harry Potter universe but also cultural touchstones. Each actor faces the challenge of stepping into these iconic roles, a point Lithgow addressed when discussing his casting as the Hogwarts headmaster earlier this year.
“I received the call while at the Sundance Film Festival for another project, and it wasn’t an easy choice, as this role will likely shape the final chapter of my career,” he told ScreenRant in February.
“But I’m thrilled. Talented creators are bringing fresh energy to the Harry Potter world. That’s what made the decision so tough. I’ll be around 87 by the time we celebrate the wrap party, but I’ve committed to it.”
