GTA 6 S-Tier Potential: Ranking All Rockstar Games

by Isabella May 25,2025

The much-anticipated GTA 6 trailer has finally dropped, and if you missed it, don't worry—we've broken down all the secrets and details for you. However, fans will need to mark their calendars for May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's adventure. While we wait, let's take a stroll down memory lane and rank the Rockstar games we've enjoyed over the years for some fun.

Rockstar, established in 1998, has delivered over 30 games, including iconic franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which game stands supreme? Note that this list excludes titles like LA Noire or Max Payne 2, as we're focusing solely on games developed by Rockstar, not those they've published. I've created a personal tier list based on my enjoyment of these games over the years, using IGN's Tier List format. Check it out here:

Topping my S-tier is Red Dead Redemption 2, which I consider my all-time favorite game. It's no surprise that it's joined by its predecessor and GTA 5, both trailblazers in the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a special affection for Max Payne 3's bullet time mechanics and GTA San Andreas, which I played much too young. At the bottom of the list in D-tier are games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!, which are generally not favored by the gaming community.

Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you believe Vice City outshines GTA 4? Feel free to create your own tier list below and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the rest of the IGN community.
