Microsoft has officially unveiled the sequel to Grounded during its Xbox Games Showcase 2025, and fans won’t have to wait long to dive in — Grounded 2 will be available as early as next month.
Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Grounded 2 continues the adventures of the beloved microscopic survival series, often described as a real-life rendition of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Much like its predecessor, this new installment will launch through Xbox Game Preview, allowing players to experience and influence the game’s development journey firsthand. Early access begins on July 29, 2025, for both PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
The reveal trailer, [ttpp] showcased during the event, offers a glimpse into new environments beyond the original backyard setting. This time around, players find themselves exploring a nearby park, where crafting tools, gathering resources, and surviving against oversized insects remain central to gameplay. Among the new threats are giant caterpillars, adding even more excitement and danger to the tiny world.
However, not every creature in the wild is out to get you. The trailer teased one particularly thrilling mechanic: the ability to ride an ant like a battle-ready steed. Now that’s what we call living the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids fantasy.
