The boom time continues at Warhammer 40,000 maker Games Workshop, which has announced it's handing out £20 million (approx. $27 million) to its staff as a bonus. The Nottingham, UK-based company behind the iconic Warhammer tabletop games and their expansive universes reported a core revenue of £560 million for the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025, up from £494.7 million in the previous period. Licensing revenue also saw a significant increase, reaching £50 million from £31 million. Core profit rose to £210 million from £174.8 million, while licensing profit climbed to £45 million from £27 million, resulting in a profit before tax of £255 million, up from £203 million.
In light of these impressive financial results and as a tribute to the hard work and dedication of its staff, Games Workshop is distributing £20 million in bonuses, an increase from the £18 million given last year. This bonus will be equally distributed among all staff members. With an estimated workforce of around 1,500 employees, this translates to a substantial £13,333 (approx. $18,000) bonus for each employee.
Games Workshop's primary business remains the sale of miniatures that fans assemble and paint for use in tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000. However, the company is increasingly leveraging its intellectual property (IP), generating significant revenue from successful ventures such as last year's video game hit, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and animations like Amazon’s Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. Moreover, Games Workshop and Amazon have finalized a deal for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, which will lead to the creation of films and television series. Additionally, Space Marine 3 is currently in development.
Looking ahead, Games Workshop acknowledges that while licensing revenue reached a record level in the current period, it does not anticipate this level to be repeated in the 2025/26 fiscal year. Despite this, licensing remains a core focus for the company. The Warhammer 40,000 and broader Warhammer franchise are experiencing unprecedented growth, and these results suggest that the momentum will continue unabated.
