Nintendo enthusiasts on the West Coast have a new reason to celebrate as the renowned gaming company opens its second official store in the United States today, May 15. Located at 331 Powell Street in Union Square, San Francisco, the store marks Nintendo's first venture on the West Coast. This follows the success of their New York location, which initially opened as the Nintendo World Store and was later revamped and reopened as Nintendo NY in 2016 after undergoing renovations and rebranding.
IGN had the opportunity to visit the new San Francisco store to explore what Nintendo has in store for its fans. Additionally, IGN sat down with Nintendo of America's President, Doug Bowser, to discuss the strategic decision behind opening a store on the West Coast at this time.
During the interview, the conversation inevitably turned to the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on June 5. IGN took the chance to delve into topics such as the Switch 2's availability in the U.S. at launch and in the future, as well as the controversial Game-Key Cards, and much more with President Bowser.
