"The Two Embers: Part One Unveils Sky: Children of the Light

As a dedicated fan of thatgamecompany's Sky: Children of the Light, I'm thrilled about the game's unique art style, compelling presentation, and captivating storyline, which have always been more appealing to me than the gameplay itself. Now, the excitement reaches new heights with the announcement of Sky's first-ever in-game animated feature, "The Two Embers."

This groundbreaking project by thatgamecompany is set to premiere a limited in-game screening of "The Two Embers: Part One" starting July 21st. This silent animated feature will delve into the origins of Sky, offering a profound narrative experience.

The Two Embers: A Deeper Look

"The Two Embers" is divided into two parts, with Part One focusing on the poignant journeys of two children separated by time yet connected in profound ways. The story begins with a young orphan residing on the fringes of The Ruler's City, a once-thriving metropolis now in decline.

The narrative takes a touching turn when the child discovers a wounded baby manatee. Through this encounter, the story explores themes of grief, loneliness, and the power of small acts of kindness. Overhead, The Ruler observes the deteriorating kingdom as a menacing storm looms.

Without dialogue or voiceovers, "The Two Embers" relies solely on visuals, music, and raw emotion to convey the child's journey through grief, while the manatee introduces a beacon of hope.

Sky: Children of the Light has released a first look at "The Two Embers: Part One," which you can watch below:

Each week, a new chapter of the film will be unlocked within Sky Cinema, a dedicated in-game movie theater. Alongside each chapter, new in-game content will be available, allowing players to delve deeper into the story through interactive gameplay.

A Unique Release Strategy

Instead of opting for a traditional release on streaming platforms or as a standalone film, thatgamecompany has chosen to integrate "The Two Embers" directly into the Sky experience. This innovative approach not only enhances the game but elevates it into a realm of transmedia storytelling. The addition of Aurora's concert and now this full-fledged animated feature truly sets Sky apart.

"The Two Embers" is a collaborative effort produced by Light & Realm and thatgamecompany, with co-production from Illusorium Studios and Orchid. This project represents one of the most ambitious undertakings by thatgamecompany to date. If you haven't yet explored Sky, you can find it on the Google Play Store.
