Restoring Lost Bases and Gear
Funcom, the developer of Dune Awakening, pledged to restore players’ lost bases and equipment after a problematic update. In a July 9 post on X, the team announced they are actively addressing the issue and provided further details on their website.
The July 7 patch altered the Deep Desert layout, inadvertently turning the PvE zone into a PvP area. This change led to significant losses of bases and equipment, leaving players frustrated.
Funcom explained that the change was intended for the next Coriolis Cycle and apologized for the disruption. They stated, "We’re working to restore vehicles and items as best we can for affected players. Expect reimbursed materials, items, and vehicle parts in the in-game ‘Claim Rewards’ tab by week’s end."
The team is also enhancing tools to better handle item restoration but requested patience due to a backlog of support requests. "We’re committed to resolving tickets quickly, including those closed early in the launch when reimbursements weren’t fully processed," they added.
Players who lost vehicles to bugs can submit in-game tickets, detailing the vehicle type, tier, and loss circumstances. Funcom noted, "Our team is tackling the root causes of item loss, focusing on server crashes, disconnects, mesh transfers, and map transitions."
Despite these setbacks, the game enjoys strong community support, earning "Mostly Positive" Steam reviews. Game8 rated Dune Awakening 74/100 for its engaging survival gameplay and expansive open world, though melee combat, performance, and server stability need refinement.
