Special Room and More Exclusively for Switch 2
Deltarune's arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2 was revealed during the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2. This version will not only include Chapters 3 and 4 but also boast exclusive features designed specifically for the advanced capabilities of the new console.
In a Fangamer newsletter, Toby Fox, the creator of Deltarune, shared exciting news about a unique "SPECIAL ROOM" that utilizes the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Fox enthused, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
For those without a Switch 2, fear not—the special room will still be accessible, though with an adapted control scheme. Moreover, players can seamlessly transfer their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2 to the new version, ensuring a smooth transition.
Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free
In the same newsletter, Toby Fox announced that Deltarune will be priced at $24.99. This price includes Chapters 1 and 2, as well as the upcoming Chapters 3 and 4. While Chapter 1 debuted in 2018 and Chapter 2 followed in 2021, both free of charge, it was previously stated that future Chapters 3-5 would require payment.
However, Fox has now reversed this decision, stating that all upcoming Chapters will be released as free updates. This means that purchasing the game once grants access to all future content at no additional cost. Fox expressed his hope, saying, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
The game's expansive soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 songs from Chapters 3 and 4, with additional tracks from future Chapters included for free. Deltarune aims to provide immense value, ensuring that every dollar spent feels worthwhile through the addition of free content and updates.
