A high-definition adaptation of the classic Kane & Lynch game, crafted by the acclaimed IO Interactive studio known for Hitman, was a long-discussed idea dating back to 2007. Over the years, numerous A-list actors were linked to the project, each bringing their unique flair to the iconic characters.
In a recent social media post, Nobody 2 director Timo Tjahjanto shared insights into his creative process, revealing he penned a treatment for the film featuring James Badge Dale and David Harbour. Unfortunately, the project never gained traction. "Never seen a script, but couple years ago when that property was still kinda shit hot. I wrote a short treatment with James Badge Dale and David Harbour in mind," Tjahjanto wrote. "Never gotten anywhere."
Despite Tjahjanto's efforts, the Kane & Lynch movie remains shelved. His treatment, like many others, never made it past the planning stage. For years, Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx were attached to the project, but both eventually withdrew as the screenplay underwent numerous revisions.
Another rumored iteration featured Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel in the lead roles, yet this version also fizzled out. Ultimately, following the lukewarm reception of Kane & Lynch: Dog Days in 2010, IO Interactive pivoted their focus back to the Hitman series.
