Dark & Darker Mobile could be getting a name change from Krafton

by Ryan Mar 19,2025

Krafton’s termination of its agreement with Ironmace Studio will result in a name change for Dark and Darker Mobile. While Krafton denies the change is related to Ironmace’s recent $6 million lawsuit settlement with Nexon over alleged trade secret misappropriation, the timing is undeniably suspicious. The lawsuit centers on Nexon’s claim that Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, used confidential information from a cancelled Nexon project (codenamed P3) to develop Dark and Darker.

Despite the severed partnership, Krafton intends to proceed with the global launch of the mobile game, albeit under a new title. This effectively makes the mobile version a standalone release, distinct from the original Dark and Darker. The irony isn't lost on observers: Ironmace initially sued Nexon for copyright infringement, and now, despite Krafton’s stated reasons, the situation appears to open the door for a similar release strategy from Krafton.

The ongoing legal battle adds a layer of complexity to the situation. While the name change and partnership termination are significant developments, the planned global release date for the mobile game remains unchanged—for now. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. We hope the final product retains the high quality we appreciated in our previous review.
