During this eagerly anticipated live stream, developers from Gearbox Software will dive deep into the upcoming FPS sequel to the beloved Borderlands series. According to a post on the PlayStation.blog dated April 29, the State of Play will feature over 20 minutes of "developer-guided gameplay," showcasing missions, killer weapons, thrilling Action Skills, and both new and returning characters.
Launch Date Moved to September 12
In a surprising turn of events, following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford took to Twitter (X) on April 29 to reveal that Borderlands 4 will now launch on September 12. Although he quickly deleted the initial video and followed up with a post saying he shared the news prematurely, the excitement was palpable. Pitchford explained in his video that the development process has been exceptionally smooth, describing it as "everything’s going kinda the best scenario," which has allowed them to move up the launch date.
Originally, during PlayStation’s February State of Play, Borderlands 4 was slated for a September 23 release. However, the game's official Twitter (X) account confirmed the new date, stating, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
